This approach is just not a good idea, even when acknowledging that companies are trying to make a buck. Plus, the attempt to switch your search engine and homepage makes all the other extra software look hostile. If I had to use Windows again (ie modern Windows) then I would look carefully at the Windows Firewall first, but - if I had to - I would put a fair bit of trust in Comodo Firewall based on my past good experience.But here’s the thing: Most people will just click through the install screens without reading them, and software companies count on that. So I'll talk about that experience as "info". In older times I used Comodo as firewall to Windows2000. Because while you might think your getting better all-around security, your actually compromising it.
Ultimately, no one can tell you what you should do, but I'd urge caution in running to many security solutions that overlap in protection.
How does this compare with other safe browsing options, including comodo's virtual kiosk and dedicate browser. Do you do online banking? If yes, then you should compare Bit Defenders safe banking feature which uses a dedicated browser. It is also important that users assess what they use the computer system for. But it isn't ideal for the uninitiated users that expect things to just work out of the box. In my personal opinion, comodo firewall is superior to most other third-party firewalls. Keep in mind a layered defense approach that uses security from different vendors is going to be more problematic in the long-term due to incompatibility issues and the trend for security vendors to bloat their products with redundant security features. I think it's important for users to pick software that you feel comfortable with using. Any reason in particular you don't use Bit defenders firewall? Some users pick security software based upon the graphical design in terms of ease-of-use and others follow the crowd in picking software that gets good reviews, performs well in tests, etc.
You could probably just run bit defender with full protection enabled and check for major overlap with spy shelter. Well Bit Defender seems to be a full featured security suite.
